Pericles describes democracy as a unique system of government unlike any that the world had ever seen. Pericles gives this definition of democracy, “Power in the hands not of a minority but of the whole people”. Within Athenian democracy Pericles argues that every citizen is viewed equally under the law. Citizens are not judged by social class but by their own individual accomplishments. Pericles explains what makes this system of government even better is the fact that all citizens are encouraged or even expected to participate in it. Pericles argues that because the citizens are involved in the government and they put men in positions of authority they should not only be expected to follow the laws but due so willingly.

Now China is speeding up drafting the Foreign Investment Law of the P. R. China, and adjusting some policies relating to the foreign investment. For a long time, the management function of the Ministry of Foreign Economic and Trade of P. R. China (MOFET, now the name of which has been changed to Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation-MOFTEC) mainly depend on the internal documents, and it is not good for foreign investors to know China’s stipulations on the foreign investment. And now, the central government decided that all the internal documents relating to foreign investment as well as its management should be made public according to law making procedure, otherwise it should be annulled.

In recent years, the Supreme Court has annually accepted for formal written opinions some 80 to 90 cases out of more than 7,000 requests—a little over 1 percent. Current issues involve gay rights to marriage benefits, abortion rights, restrictions, military tribunals, the special court for search warrants, a state’s right to condemn your property to sell it to private investors to raise the tax base, and many others. What Is the Significance of the Doctrine of Consideration in the Law of Contracts

Generally, a contract is considered to be an exchange of promises or an agreement between parties which legally binds these parties and that can be enforced by the law. Usually, contract law is based on the phrase pacta sunt servanda that means ‘promises must be kept’. It is clear that all people make contracts nowadays and do not even consider for a moment that they make contracts. The contracts can be formal or informal, oral or written, or just plain understood. ‘The mere fact of agreement alone does not make a contract. Both parties to the contract must provide consideration if they wish to sue on the contract. This means that each side must promise to give or do something for the other.’
